What PlumageSort knows about you

Nothing. PlumageSort identifies birds entirely on your own device, makes no network requests while sorting, and sends no photograph, no filename and no usage data anywhere.
That is unusual enough to be worth stating precisely rather than in general terms, so the rest of this page says exactly what happens to your data — and what does not.
Your photographs
Photographs are read from the folder you choose and moved into folders you choose, on storage you control. They are never uploaded, never copied off the device, and never sent to any server, including ours. There is no account, no sign-in and no sync.
Identification runs on Apple's on-device machine learning. The species model ships inside the app; it is not fetched, and it does not report what it saw.
What the app stores, and where
All of it stays on your device:
- Your chosen region and burst-handling preference, in the app's own settings.
- A resume file in your destination folder if a sort stops early, recording the folder paths and settings of that run so it can continue. You can delete it at any time; the app treats a missing one as "nothing to resume".
- A review page in your destination folder listing what was sorted, so you can check the app's work.
What we do not do
- No analytics. No usage tracking, no event logging, no session recording.
- No crash reporting. Crashes are not transmitted anywhere.
- No advertising, and no data shared with or sold to anyone.
- No third-party SDKs. The app bundles no analytics, advertising or attribution libraries.
- No tracking as the App Store defines it. Nothing about you is linked to an identity or combined with data from other sources.
Purchases
Subscriptions and photo packs are sold through Apple. Apple processes the payment and tells the app only whether a purchase is active — we never see your name, card or address, and we receive no personal information from Apple. Apple's handling of that transaction is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
How many photographs you have sorted in the current period is counted on your device, to apply the plan's limit. That count is never transmitted.
Photo library access
On iPhone and iPad the app asks for photo library access only if you choose to sort into Photos albums. Decline it and the app keeps working on ordinary folders. Access is used solely to read the photographs you point it at and to write the albums you ask for.
Children
PlumageSort is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Your rights
Rights to access, correct, export or delete personal data — under the GDPR, the DPDP Act 2023 or the CCPA — apply to data a company holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to return or erase. Everything the app creates is a file on your own device, and deleting the app and its folders removes all of it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date above changes with it. If the app ever begins collecting anything, that will be said here plainly and before it happens, not after.
